Aaron J. Krych M.D. is the Department Chair of Orthopedic Surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester. He is the team orthopedic surgeon for the Minnesota Timberwolves NBA basketball team. He is the previous Chair of Sports medicine, Director of the Orthopedic Surgery Sports Medicine Fellowship, Orthopedic Surgery Sports Medicine Research Fellowship, and Medical Director for the Mayo Clinic Bone and Tissue Bank. Dr. Krych joined the staff of Mayo Clinic in 2010 and holds the academic rank of Professor of Orthopedic Surgery, Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science. He also serves as the John and Posy Krehbiel Professorship in Orthopedics Honoring Bernard F. Morrey, M.D. Dr. Krych has research interests that include improving outcomes of ACL reconstruction, cartilage allograft, adipose-derived MSC injection for hip and knee arthritis, meniscus repair, and single stage cell-based cartilage repair. He is the principal investigator on several research studies funded by the National Institutes of Health, Arthritis Foundation, and Minnesota Regenerative Medicine. He in the co-principal investigator on several FDA IND phase I studies for treatment of cartilage injury in the knee, as well as treatment of knee and hip arthritis. His research findings have been published in more than 480 articles in prominent peer-reviewed journals.
